I am dual board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. I have cared for people of all ages, and worked in both outpatient clinical settings and inpatient capacities. My decision to seek a career in health care developed during my time spent teaching equine therapy to children with disabilities. I supported families during their journeys through incredibly tough physical and emotional experiences and I wanted to be part of improving people’s lives and providing hope. After completing my Masters in Nursing in 2008, I spent several years as a Nurse Practitioner supervising a department at Seattle Childrens Hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient clinical care. It was my years spent working in family practice that led to my recognition of the interconnectedness between mental and physical wellness. Our thoughts and emotions affect us physically, and treating that aspect can be transformative for both mental and physical health.
What I enjoy most about being a nurse practitioner is the relationships that develop with my patients and the conversations about their lives. I see people when they are at their highest, and when they are at their lowest. I am privileged to celebrate victories and mourn losses with people, and I feel incredibly honored with the trust my patients give me in sharing the most vulnerable parts of their lives.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 children. I love exploring the world, participating in all the sports Central Oregon has to offer, reading books, enjoying the sunshine, and finding the best secret camping spots at any lake or river.
